Question by RockE: Have you gotten something in the mail called a “National Debt Stimulus Notification”?

It is from some LLC called “National Financial Assistance Center”. And, it is extremely bogus. It looked pretty official but I am a natural skeptic and was surprised to see that no one mentioned anything online about the not-so-upfront company.

I just wanted to make sure something about how dishonest the company is would come up if one were to search for it online.

At least they could’ve gotten the National Debt RELIEF Stimulus name right…geez!

BEWARE – these are the times that people will try to take advantage of the vulnerable. Keep your head up and alert, good luck and God bless.

Question by ashleyvictoria19: Getting a mortgage while enrolled in a Debt Management Plan?

Does anyone know of any types of loans or lenders who will consider applicants who are currently enrolled in a debt management plan (DMP) or Credit Counseling Program (CCCS)? I have been making monthly payments on my DMP for almost a year, but have several more years to go. I would really like to buy a house. I would be a first time home buyer. Does anyone know whether this is possible?

Good luck. I doubt any lenders are looking to give more debt to someone who has to enter a debt management plan to resolve what they already have.

Question by SMCL: Will debt settlement ruin my chances at getting a new job?

I am going to go through a debt settlement with my significant other as an alternative to bankruptcy. We’re both young, and planning on advancing in our careers. Would a debt settlement work against our odds of landing the perfect job, even if we are the most qualified??

Best answer:

Answer by bmwdriver11
Possibly, but less so than a bankruptcy would. Many companies now check credit records. Various HR studies have shown that on average, people that maintain their credit the best also tend to be the best employees (for various reasons- they have less drama at home, they are more organized, they can manage resources better, or whatever). So if it negatively impacts your credit, it may keep you from getting a job, at least until it washes off your record in about 7 years time. But like I said, I’d far rather have debt settlement on there than a bankruptcy.
